Metz Family Reunion
June 21, 2003
This year's Metz Family Reunion was held at it's usual place, the Community Park on Allentown Road in Telford, PA .
There were 42 in attendance from those that live locally to those that traveled from California, New York, Virginia and Alaska.
June 21st, being the summer solstice, the sun managed to peak out of the clouds at around 3:17 PM for about five minutes.
Ah, the beginning of summer, but you would never have known it from the way people were dressed
with coats and hats at an unseasonable 58 degrees.
As usual, the food was abundant and delicious.  The company of old and new relatives and families was mingled with laughter and catching up on what we all have been doing over the past year.

Below is a photographic collection of our gathering.

I am working on the Metz Directory and will e-mail that to have it proofed soon, then send printed editions.  If everyone could please send me an e-mail when they receive this, I will put you in my address book and when updates are done, I will forward them to everyone.

I will also be adding more Metz Family History shortly.  As many of you know, Floyd Metz had written a lot about his accounts of the family and done a lot of research.  I have that information and would like to add it to this site.

However, he gave me copies to read and make any edits that I thought necessary, but he specifically asked me not to share them with anyone, which I haven't done.  I think the reason why he didn't want me to share it was because he was not finished with it.  He did have plans to publish it as he mentioned that several times as he was conferring with John Lapp.  I don't think he ever completed the work.

I would like to know if it would be possible to do so now.  It is some very interesting writing and I think the rest of the family would like to read it, such as the account of how his Dad was ordained and his recollections of Grandpop Metz.  The research he did was on the Metz Family in Germany, land appropriations in Towamencin Township, etc.

So, having said that, what are your thoughts?  Please let me know.

I just added a Forum for anyone to go to and talk about subjects related to our family.  Check back often to see who is posting.  Click here to go to Forum.
